In the world filled with injustice, despondency and rat race we need people who are just not self-serving but are also motivated enough to serve others making a difference in the lives of underprivileged people and that’s precisely when social workers come in.
Through their dedication and commitment to bring about positive changes, helping individuals of all ages and being an upholder for those who lost hopes in their lives, social helpers play a prominent role in improving the lives of those who need it most.
“All of us are born for a reason, but all of us don’t discover why success has nothing to do with what you gain in life or accomplish yourself. It’s what you do for others”.said Danny Thomas. Countries like India having more than half of the population driven by poverty need such people. You can take up any profession in your life but it will not give you that eternal happiness which you can achieve by bringing smile on the faces of backward and underprivileged section of the society. The blessing that these people give is ever- lasting.
The sense of achievement you will get after serving others can’t be compared to any other monetary success. There is Chinese saying that goes “ If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap. If you want happiness for a day, go fishing. If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune. If you want happiness for lifetime, help somebody”.If you feel depressed with your problems just compare them to these people who are not even getting three meals a day.you will feel better but instead of just thinking to try making them happy and see what happens.
Giving isn’t about cash, so you don’t need to be rich, providing for others can be as simple as a solitary kind word, grin or a mindful signal. Giving also connects us to others, making more grounded groups and building a more joyful society for everybody. The more you give, the more you get.
All your life you would never be that satisfied that you would be after serving others. You feel more optimistic, free from negative vibes and get more hours of sleep. You will find a purpose of living. Any help gets counted. Serving others is like serving God.
